What type of fabric do you sell?
The majority of our fabrics are 100% cotton and 112cm wide. If this is not the case we will advise this in the product descriptions.
What can the fabric be used for?
These fabrics are perfect for quilting, dressmaking, patchwork and general sewing & craft projects plus some home decor items, for example cushions or even blinds. It is important to note that they are not upholstery weight and therefore wouldn't be suitable for items within the home that get a lot of wear and tear.
What is a Fat Quarter?
A fat quarter was traditionally a unit of fabric used in quilting or patchwork, but is universally accepted as a standard measurement of fabric.
It is basically a half metre length of fabric, which is then cut in half across the width. Therefore generally leaving you with a piece of fabric 50cm length x 56cm wide. This unit of fabric can be very beneficial for crafters wishing to create something out of a variety of fabrics, as it enables you to buy 4 different designs or colours for the same cost of a single metre of fabric.
What fabric quantities do you sell?
The majority of our fabrics can be purchased in multiples of a fat quarter (see above for details), half metre or full metre and multiples there of. If you require additional information on this, please see our helpful fabric measurements guide on our home page, which gives a useful visual explanation.
What is a fat quarter bundle?
A fat quarter bundle is a wonderful thing! Basically a collection of fat quarters (see above for definition) which work beautifully together and complement one another for your craft project. They are ideal for any number of things from a beautiful string of bunting to a intricate hand stitched quilt.
Should I wash the fabric before using it?
Yes, we would recommend doing so as this will help prevent shrinkage of your finished project. Wash your fabric at 30 degrees with a mild detergent before you get started. Please note that Poppies & Polka Dots can take no responsibility for any damage or loss incurred from you washing any of the products you purchase form us.
Can you send a fabric swatch?
Yes, we can send a fabric swatch of any of our Kona Plains range, just send an email email@example.com and we can arrange for this to be posted out to you.
I would like to order a plain fabric, thread or zip to match, are you able to help?
Yes, definitely! Just send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and wherever possible we would love to assist. You will also find a suggested matching thread already linked to each fabric that we sell. Please note, that sometimes it is not possible to find an exact match, but we have selected the option that we feel works the best.
I can't find what I am looking for, can you help?
We are constantly adding to our collections, if there is something that you haven't been able to find on our website, then please email us email@example.com and hopefully we can help.
If I place a large order, do you offer a discount?
Yes absolutely! If you spend £150 or more, we will give you a 5% discount and if you spend £250 we will give a 10% discount.
Simply add the code: 150DISC & 250DISC at the check out and your discounts will be applied. Please note these discounts cannot be offered retrospectively, so please remember to add the relevant code at the checkout.
Can I change my order?
Please email us as soon as possible if you need to make a change. If we haven't cut the fabric or posted the package, then it may still be possible to make some amendments to the order. Whenever possible we'll do what we can to help.
How long will it take for my order to arrive?
We always try to post your items within 24hours of receiving payment, however this may be a little longer during busy periods. For full details about delivery & postage, please take a look at the 'Delivery & Returns' section of the website.
What method of payment do you accept?
All payments are made through the PayPal Payment Gateway.
Do I need a PayPal account?
No, it is not necessary to have a PayPal account in order to make your payment. PayPal will simply take you to a payment screen and offers a secure method to make the transaction. It will either use funds from your PayPal account if you have one, or simply ask you for your debit or credit card as per normal payments, keeping it safe for everyone involved.
Are your prices inclusive of VAT?
Yes, the price you see on the web page is the price you pay.
What is your returns policy?

Why am I being asked my age to buy scissors or rotary cutters?
You must be over the age of 18 years to purchase either of these items and therefore you will be asked to confirm this at time of checkout.
